Bird Flight: rules, tips to win and how it helps at work

How the game works

Bird Flight is a one-button arcade game set in the office: instead of a bird, a stapler flies between stacks of paper. Games in this style became hugely popular on phones in the 2010s because they take seconds to learn and need just one action.

Tap, click or press Space, the Up Arrow or W to give the stapler an upward push. Between presses it falls. Guide it through the gaps between the paper stacks, and each pair of obstacles you pass adds one point.

The run lasts until the first collision, then you can start again and chase your best score.

Tips to win

  1. Do not press too often: short, regular taps keep the stapler steadier than a rapid series.
  2. Watch the next gap rather than the stapler, and start correcting the height early.
  3. Stay near the middle of each gap, where a small mistake still leaves room.
  4. After a collision, start the next run straight away while the rhythm is fresh.
  5. If your hands get tense, pause for a moment, because a calm pace usually brings a better score.

Make it an office break

After an hour of focused work, your eyes and hands want a change. A Bird Flight run takes less than a minute and needs no setup: open the page, tap and fly.

The game asks for full attention for a few seconds, which helps you switch off from the task and come back to it fresher. Try a simple team ritual: one short run after each finished task.

Signed-in colleagues can compare best scores and turn a coffee break into a small friendly contest.

Why it helps at work

  • Resets attention in under a minute
  • Trains reaction and hand–eye coordination
  • Turns personal bests into friendly team rivalry
