How the game works
Checkers follows English or American rules on an 8 × 8 board, with 12 pieces per player. Regular pieces move one dark square diagonally forward. To capture, jump over an adjacent opposing piece into an empty square beyond it.
Kings move one square diagonally and may jump in either direction. If any of your pieces can capture, you must choose a capture instead of a quiet move. If the landing square offers another jump, continue until no further jump is available.
Reaching the far edge crowns a regular piece, and that promotion ends its move. Capture every opposing piece or leave your opponent with no legal move to win. A turn has a 30-second clock, and missing it passes the turn.
The game draws after 80 moves without a capture or crowning, or after 12 minutes without a winner.
